Meet the Board
John Hyman
Partner & Director of
Investment Management
CERITY PARTNERS
John is a Partner in Cerity Partners’ Madison Avenue, New
York o昀케ce. He has 35 years of experience developing and
leading sophisticated high-net-worth investment advisory
businesses. John is a member of the 昀椀rm’s Investment
Committee, Manager Selection subcommittee and
Alternative Investments subcommittee. Prior to joining
Cerity Partners, John was the CEO of Algonquin Advisors,
managing the 昀椀rm’s day-to-day operations. He is an
established leader in the 昀椀nancial services industry. John
was a Senior Managing Director for J.P. Morgan Securities
and its predecessor Bear Stearns & Co., Inc., where he led
the 昀椀rm’s investment advisory business. During his tenure,
he served on J.P. Morgan’s Global Wealth Management
Investment Leadership Team and New Products
Committee. He was also a member of the Bear Stearns
PCS Executive, New Products, Recruiting, Hiring, Risk,
Ethics, Best Execution, Valuation and Proxy Committees.
John chaired the Bear Stearns Advisory Services Due
Diligence, Research, Performance Measurement and
Portfolio Manager Review Committees. Previously, he
was a Managing Director for Oppenheimer & Co., Inc.,
where he led the 昀椀rm’s Asset Management Group and the
development of investment management programs in
Canada through CIBC. John also worked in the investment
management consulting groups at Smith Barney, Harris
Upham & Co. and Drexel Burnham Lambert. John earned
his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from
Franklin & Marshall College and his Master of Business
Administration from the College of William & Mary.

Angela Miller-May
Chief Investment O昀케cer
ILLINOIS MUNICIPAL
RETIREMENT FUND
Angela Miller-May currently serves as the Chief Investment
O昀케cer for the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund, a $55.8
billion pension fund that services a membership of over
457,000 active members and over 3,030 employers. She
focuses on providing strategic portfolio construction,
excellent manager selection and rigorous due diligence and
provides leadership to a team of investment professionals
in meeting IMRF’s investment goals.
Prior to serving as IMRF’s Chief Investment O昀케cer, she
served as the CIO for Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund
after holding several progressively responsible positions
since 2010. Ms. Miller-May serves as a member on several
boards and engages with many other organizations. She
was honored with the National Association of Securities
Professionals (NASP) 2022 Pacesetter Award, the Women
Investment Professional (WIP) 2020 Trailblazer Award
“Distinguished Woman Investment Professional of the Year”
and has been the recipient of many other awards. She has
also had the honor of testifying at a 2019 Congressional
Hearing on the topic of Diversity and Inclusion.
Ms. Miller-May holds an MBA from Kellstadt Graduate
School of Business at DePaul University and has earned her
BA in Economics from Northwestern University.
